The Outfit Cost per Wear
Cost per wear (CPW) is a smart and sustainable way to assess the value of your clothing. Essentially, it’s the total cost of an item divided by the number of times you wear it. For example, if you buy a $100 dress and wear it 20 times, the cost per wear is $5.
Below I did the CPW for the 3 outfits I created from the items I purchased. Since the outfit is a simple and suitable for a casual day, I estimated that I will wear 1 of the 3 outfits roughly 50 times this year. The total cart cost $651, so my CPW is $13.02.
This method encourages you to invest in quality pieces that you love and will wear often, rather than fast fashion items that may be cheaper initially but won’t last as long. By focusing on CPW, you can build a wardrobe filled with versatile, durable pieces that provide excellent value over time, ultimately saving you money and reducing waste
