My Hair Growth Routine for Longer Thicker Hair in 2025
I have had thin hair my entire life, which is why finding the right hair growth routine has been a priority. Like, to the point where as a baby, I was so bald my parents debated shaving my head—because apparently, there’s some old myth that says it’ll grow back thicker. (Spoiler: They didn’t, and it doesn’t.) Fast forward to adulthood, and I’m still out here trying to make my hair look like I didn’t just escape from a medieval plague.
This post is all about my hair growth routine.

So, for 2025, I set one very specific, very ambitious goal: double the amount of hair on my head and grow it past my boobs. Basically, I want mermaid vibes, not struggling Victorian orphan. And I’m taking it very seriously.
In order to achieve my 2025 hair goals, I knew I had to switch things up—because clearly, what I was doing wasn’t working. So, I put together a detailed schedule and vowed to stick to it religiously. If I’m going to have long, thick hair, I need proof of effort.
So here’s the plan:
Daily Hair Growth Routine
Sunday
6 AM: Take Hair Growth Supplement
8:30 PM: Scalp Treatment
+ Apply a hair growth serum to the scalp (won’t make hair oily).
+ Massage scalp with a red light therapy massager for 2 minutes.
9 PM: Hair Oil Treatment
+ Apply homemade rosemary & jojoba oil blend to the entire scalp (recipe at the end of the post).
+ Apply jojoba oil to the lengths of the hair.
+ Wrap hair in a silk bonnet before bed.
Monday
6 AM: Take Hair Growth Supplement
6:15 AM: Wash Hair
+ First shampoo: Ouai Detox Shampoo.
+ Second Shampoo: Crown Affair The Volumizing Shampoo or L’Oreal Paris EverPure
(It’s good to rotate shampoos regularly so your hair doesn’t build up a tolerance and stop responding to the product.)
+ Use the conditioner that matches the shampoo used.
+ Apply a laminate hair gloss and let it sit for 5 minutes before rinsing it out.
7 AM: Blow Dry Routine
+ Wrap hair in a microfiber towel and let it air dry until 90% dry.
+ Spray hair with Bumble & Bumble Heat Protectant.
+ Use a detangler brush, starting from the ends and working up to the roots.
+ Blow dry roots, alternating between hot and cold air.
+ Use a round hot air brush to finish drying and styling.
+ Apply L’Oreal Paris Bond Repair Oil to the ends.
8 PM: Microneedle scalp
+ Section hair for even coverage.
+ Microneedle by gently rolling the derma roller in vertical, horizontal, and diagonal directions (10-12 passes per section).
+ Apply a hair growth serum post-treatment.
+ Sanitize the derma roller with isopropyl alcohol for 10 minutes.
8:30 PM: Scalp Treatment
+ Apply a hair growth serum to the scalp (won’t make hair oily).
+ Massage scalp with a red light therapy massager for 2 minutes.

This schedule is my hair boot camp for 2025—because if I don’t see progress, I’m actually considering the old wives tale shaving trick.
My Hair Growth Progress

When this picture was taken, I had already had two trims, each three months apart, with the last one on February 6th. I’ve been following this routine since January 1st, but unfortunately, I didn’t take a starting photo. Moving forward, I’ll be updating every month with a new side by side progress photo and notes!
DIY Hair Growth Scalp Oil
This hair growth scalp oil is packed with rosemary oil, jojoba oil, peppermint oil, and pumpkin seed oil. A powerhouse blend to nourish the scalp, boost circulation, and promote thicker, healthier hair.
Ingredients:
2 tbsp jojoba oil (moisturizes scalp, mimics natural sebum)
2 tbsp pumpkin seed oil (blocks DHT, supports hair growth)
10 drops rosemary oil (stimulates hair follicles, promotes growth)
5 drops peppermint oil (boosts circulation, gives a refreshing tingle)
Instructions:
01. Combine all the oils in a small glass dropper bottle.
02. Shake well to mix.
03. Apply a few drops to your scalp and massage for 2-3 minutes.
04. Use 2-3 times a week for best results.
Tip: Warm the oil slightly before applying for better absorption and a relaxing scalp treatment.
Monthly Hair Growth Maintenance
While my daily routine keeps my hair in check, long-term growth also requires a little extra TLC. Here’s what I’m doing on a monthly basis to make sure my hair stays healthy and on track for my 2025 goals:
Trim Every 3 Months: I know the irony of cutting hair to grow it, but trust me, getting rid of split ends helps prevent breakage and keeps the strands strong.
Scalp Detox Once a Month: Even with a solid routine, product buildup is inevitable. Once a month, I do a deep scalp detox with a clarifying scrub or apple cider vinegar rinse to reset my scalp and keep follicles clear for max growth potential.
Protein & Moisture Balance Treatment: I alternate between a protein treatment (to strengthen strands) and a deep hydration mask (to keep things soft and bouncy). If my hair feels weak or breaks easily, I know it’s time for protein. If it’s dry and dull, hydration is the move.
No-Heat Week: Ideally, I give my hair one heat-free week per month to minimize damage and let it recover. Since I have wavy/curly hair, I try to embrace it by braiding it into four sections when it’s 75% dry and sleep in them overnight for heatless waves. Reality? I usually last a day before throwing it into a slick bun, but hey—the effort counts.
Herbal Rinse (Optional, but Feels Fancy): Once a month, I do a rosemary rinse for a natural boost. Rosemary stimulates the scalp, promotes circulation, and is said to support hair growth—plus, it makes me feel like I’m doing something extra for my hair.
This is the long-game strategy for hair growth. Because while the daily routine keeps things moving, these monthly check-ins make sure my hair isn’t just growing longer, but also staying healthy, strong, and (hopefully) thicker.
Hair Growth Smoothie: The Ultimate Strands Booster
If I’m going to manifest long, thick hair, I might as well fuel it from the inside too. This hair growth smoothie is packed with biotin, protein, and healthy fats—everything my scalp and hair need to thrive.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup strawberries (rich in vitamin C to support collagen production)
1/2 banana (natural silica for stronger hair)
1/4 avocado (healthy fats + vitamin E for scalp health)
1 cup whole milk (protein + biotin to support hair growth)
1 tbsp flaxseeds (omega-3s to nourish hair follicles)
1 tbsp chia seeds (more omega-3s + protein)
1 tsp honey (anti-inflammatory + scalp-loving properties)
1 scoop collagen powder (optional, but great for strengthening hair)
Instructions:
01. Soak 1 tbsp chia seeds in ¼ cup of water or milk for 10 minutes.
02. Add all ingredients to the blends.
03. Blend until smooth.
04. Pour into a glass, sip, and picture your thick, healthy hair flourishing.
This smoothie is protein-packed, nutrient-dense, and actually delicious—a perfect way to drink your way to better hair.
My 2025 Hair Growth Blueprint: The Routine, The Plan, & The Glow-Up
Growing my hair out has officially become a full-time commitment, but honestly, I’m kind of here for it. Between the daily routine, monthly maintenance, and fueling my body with the right nutrients, I’m giving my hair zero excuses not to thrive. Will this be the year I finally achieve long, thick, mermaid-level hair? Time will tell. But one thing’s for sure—if this routine doesn’t work, I might just have to accept my fate as a lifelong thin-haired girl. Or start investing in really good wigs.
